2nd place – 30% of pot

3rd place – 10% of pot

Other non-monetary prizes may also be added into the tournament tentatively.

Single-Bracket (Lower)

This tournament will be a single-bracket. Each competitor will go head to head, best two out of three. Whoever wins two out of the three songs wins their match and proceeds up the bracket while the loser gets knocked into losers bracket. Individuals in losers bracket have a chance to move up their bracket, however, if they lose a second time, they will be knocked out of the tournament. The winner of Winner’s Finals and the winner of Loser’s Finals will then go head to head in a BO3 match-up. The competitor from winners finals only needs to win ONE MATCH to be crowned champion. The competitor from loser’s finals will need to win TWO MATCHES IN A ROW: one to reset the bracket, and one to win.

Pools (Upper)

The tournament will be double elimination up until Top 4. The tournament will start by separating competitors into 2 separate double elimination pools based on their seeding, with two people advancing in each pool. The remaining four players will then become the Top 4, where the tournament format will change to Round Robin.

Top 4 Round Robin Rules (UPPER ONLY)

The Grand Finals will take the Top 2 from the Winner’s Bracket and the Top 2 from Loser’s Bracket and put them into a single pool. Similar to the previous matches, the players will do a random card draw with the levels and weights stated in Round 4, written above. Players will play three songs out of the five chosen in the card draw, and will play them in order from left to right.

The final ranking will be based on the win/loss ratio during the Round Robin. The person with the highest amount of wins to losses wins.

Preference Options will still be available during the Grand Final. The Higher Seed in each match will be able to choose their option first, the Lower Seed gets to choose the second, and then the Higher Seed gets the remaining one.

In the event of a tiebreaker, there will be a tiebreaker round — two songs will be randomly selected by card draw, and competitors will play them until a player is up by two songs, or 2-0.

Card Draw

We will be using the DDR Draw Card System, located here: https://ddrdraw.surge.sh/

Prior to each match, 5 songs will be randomly selected by the card draw depending on if the match requires a player to win 2 or 3 songs respectively. The person who was previously chosen to have the first protect will choose a song they wish to play, and the person with the second protect will choose from the remaining songs the song they wish to play.  Then, the person who was previously chosen to have the first veto will choose a song they do not wish to play, and the person with the second veto will choose from the remaining songs the song they do not wish to play. The players will play on the remaining songs listed on the card draw in order (left to right).

Preference Options

  1. Song Veto – Choose a song not to play.
  2. Side Preference – Choose between 1P or 2P side.
  3. Song Protect – Player chooses a song that will be played in the card draw. Protects happen before the vetoes.
  4. Pocket Pick (Round 3 and up) – Write a song down that you can choose to replace with something in your set.
    1. Can be used during a match card draw, after songs are drawn but before songs have been eliminated, a player may opt to replace one of the drawn songs with the “Pocket Pick”
    2. Pocket Pick MUST be between
      1. a 12 to 14-footer (LOWER)
      2. a 15 to 17-footer (UPPER)
    3. The player using the “Pocket Pick” automatically uses their “Protect” for the round on this song.
    4. The “Pocket Pick” can be used if the song is already in the draw (to prevent it from being removed by the other player’s Pocket Pick)
    5. The lower seed must declare their intention to use their Pocket Pick after seeing the draw, but before the higher seed declares their intention to use their Pocket Pick
    6. If both players use their Pocket Pick, the higher seed cannot remove the lower seed’s Pocket Pick.

The higher seed will pick the first preference, and the lower seed will pick the second preference. The remaining preference will go to the higher seed.

Tiebreaker Round

  • In the event that a tie happens (match goes 1 – 1), the third song will be played to break the tie.
  • In the event that the tiebreaker song is tied, the players will proceed to draw two new songs

Song Mods

All mods are allowed as long as they do not change the EX total of the song (cut, freezes off, etc).  All speed mods (2x, 2.5x, etc) turn mods (left, right, shuffle, etc) and appearance mods (sudden+, hidden+, etc) are allowed.

Players are permitted to switch certain mods on or off mid song by double tapping the green selection button on the screen (sudden+).  However, they must do it on their own accord, and cannot have another person do it for them during the song.

Pad Arbitration

In the event that a pad error happens and would make a difference in the outcome of the match, the tournament organizers will handle this on a case by case basis.

E-Amusement

Most of the song modifiers will not be selectable unless you are playing with an eamuse card, and certain song unlocks are also tied to your account.  Because of this, players are encouraged to have their own eamuse card and account set up prior to the tournament. If you do not already have an eamuse card, you may purchase one at the front desk of Round1 for $5.  You are allowed to borrow an eamuse card during the tournament if someone is willing to lend you theirs.

Please note that certain options are only selectable through the online eamuse portal (darker BG, noteskin, and arrow guidelines), and two options are locked behind having a paid Basic Eamuse subscription at some point (Fast/Slow, and combo behind the arrows).  If you want access to these options and do not have an existing eamuse account, you may want to consider borrowing a card from someone.

Establishment/Venue Rules

Per Round1 policy, shirts and shoes are required at all times. No baby powder or any foreign substance is allowed on the pad.

If at any point you do something deemed unsportsmanlike, such as interfering with someone while playing a match, damage Round 1 property, become visibly intoxicated, assault another person, or any other similar malicious behavior, you will be immediately disqualified from the tournament, kicked out of the venue, and will not receive a refund.
